ALIESHA is a Hallberg Rassy 36, built in Sweden in 1991. Her vital statistics are:

Length 10.9 metres

Beam 3.6 metres

Draught 1.7 metres

Rig: Bermudian sloop

Engine: Volvo Penta MD22L, 52 HP

Berths 7 (really, 4!)

She has been our home, as well as our means of transport, for several years now.Entertaining.jpg (42708 bytes) We have a  comfortable saloon, with good lighting for reading and a radio/CD player for entertainment. We can also watch DVD’s on our laptop, when we can hire them or swap with other cruisers. We entertain quite a bit too!

Pam works wonders on the culinary front in the tiny galley, with its twin sinks and 4-burner stove. Principal hatesBaking Bread.jpg (166192 bytes) are the top-opening fridge and the lack of work surface for preparation.  Baking bread is done every four days or so when we are on passage.

ALIESHA has a well-equipped navigation station. There is a large chart table and aNAv Area.jpg (325967 bytes) dedicated laptop for electronic navigation and receiving weather fax. A multi-purpose display gives continuous read-out of wind speed and direction, boat speed and depth.  A GPS gives speed, course and distance to waypoint.  Shortwave radio, VHF radio and radar complete the line up.

In harbour or at anchor we sleep in the aft cabin which has a small double and a single berth. Who sleeps where depends on how hot it is! At sea we take turns to sleep in the port saloon berth, three hours on and three off. When we have guests to stay we give them the aft cabin and move into the fore cabin.

We have a decent heads with loo, a china basin and a good hot shower. All the comforts of home!

In good weather we spend most of our time on deck, or lounging in the cockpit under the shade of the bimini.
